Baldness and Hair Loss in
Women: A Painful Experience

Female’s youthfulness and attractiveness are greatly influenced by their beautiful, natural hair. It may be the greatest item a woman can wear and is a key indicator of health and well-being. You have more styling and dressing options if your hair is thick and healthy.

Sadly, excessive hair loss puts millions of women’s inherent beauty at risk each year. Women have unique relationships with their hair, which also serves as a significant source of self-confidence for them.

Various procedures enable ladies in regrowing their natural hair.  A hair transplant is the greatest solution for various forms of female hair loss due to its permanent outcomes.

Is Baldness a Frequent Problem for Women?

Many individuals assume that hair loss exclusively affects males. However, it is estimated that more than half of all women will have significant hair loss, thus we can say that baldness or severe hair loss is widespread among women.

Approximately one-third of women who are vulnerable suffer from female-pattern hair loss (FPHL) (roughly 40 million in the European Union and 30 million women in United States).

Female Hair Loss:
Reasons & Causes

As male pattern baldness is a general problem, the majority of hair loss kinds and treatments addressed in various groups are connected to male hair loss. However, despite certain parallels with males, women often experience hair loss due to distinct causes.

Several distinct factors contribute to hair loss in women. Any medical problem, hormone imbalance, or stress might be the cause. Identifying the underlying cause of hair loss in women may be difficult at times.

Listed below are some typical causes:

A number of factors impact alopecia, including genetics, hair care practices, and anything that causes the immune system to mistakenly identify hair follicles as foreign invaders.

For ladies, there are four primary varieties:

1) Trauma-Induced Alopecia

The substances in hair products induce hair loss when they are used. Hot combing, blow dryers, conditioners, or some chemicals may cause the hair shaft to break if you color or straighten it.

2) Alopecia Areata

This refers to the sudden occurrence of patchy hair loss on the head or body. Typically, it begins with one or more circular bald patches, which may or may not overlap.

3) Cicatricial Alopecia

Cicatricial Alopecia is a group of illnesses that cause permanent hair loss via scarring. Due to this process, hair falls out and the follicle is replaced by scar tissue.

4) Androgenetic alopecia

Millions of women are affected with androgenetic alopecia, the most common cause of hair loss or baldness with a female pattern hair loss due to genetics or family history. The most prevalent cause of female hair loss occurs between the ages of 12 and 40 due to female pattern baldness. Hair loss is seen differently by women than by men. While men often think of balding as a receding hairline and identifiable bald patches, women regard thinning hair as a more generalized condition.

Women might suffer from temporary baldness under certain conditions. Telogen Effluvium is a frequent cause of temporary hair loss (TE). Hair loss due to this condition is the second most common. It's a temporary phenomenon brought on by a shift in the number of hair follicles active and dormant.

As an example, women who have just given birth or suffered a trauma may lose their hair. Anything that shocks the body and disturbs the hair's lifecycle is likely to cause TE. High temperature, severe infection, mental stress, and a wide range of other physical shocks may cause a person to experience symptoms of illness.

Menopause or using birth control tablets may lead to hair loss in women. Hair loss may result from fluctuations in estrogen and progesterone levels.

Hair thinning might creep up on you after a major life event that has caused a lot of anxiety and worry. Stress may alter parts of your body's natural cycles, resulting in hair loss in the long run.

Medical diseases such as thyroid problems, skin issues, and autoimmune ailments may all cause hair loss.

Women who are deficient in certain vitamins and minerals may have hair loss or thinning. Some dermatologists believe that eliminating meat or following a vegetarian diet may lead to baldness.

Meat, which is heavy in iron, has been shown to improve the health of hair and body tissues. Women are predisposed to iron shortage due to monthly blood loss; consequently, failing to receive adequate iron in their diet may lead to additional iron deficiency.
